    Pick Compress from the tool list. Drop the oversized PDF into the area that opens; it loads immediately because there is no upload to wait through.

    There is a trade between size and picture quality. A text document takes the strongest setting without looking any different; a page of photographs will not.

    Check it, then download

    Look at the result before you send it — compression works on the images inside the file, so it is worth confirming a scan is still readable. Then save it to your device.

Does compressing cost anything?

Will the text still be sharp?
Text stays sharp — compression works on the images inside the PDF, not the words. A page that is itself a photograph of a document is the case to check before sending.
Is my document uploaded to be compressed?
No. The work is done by your own browser on your own device, which matters most for exactly the documents people need to compress: contracts, payslips and ID scans.
