    Drop the PDF onto the page. It is read by your own browser and goes no further.

    Choose where they sit

    Bottom centre is the convention for a report; a corner suits a document that will be bound or hole-punched. Every page is numbered in order.

    The new PDF downloads straight to your device with the numbers written into it, so they are there for whoever opens it next.

Questions

Can I start from a number other than 1?
The numbering runs from the first page of the file you open. If a bundle needs to carry on from an earlier document, the practical route is to merge the parts first with Merge PDF and then number the whole thing once.
Will the numbers cover up anything?
They sit in the margin, which on almost every document is empty. If a page is printed edge to edge, choose a different position before saving.
Is it free, and does it watermark?
Free, no watermark, no account. It runs in your browser. The separate PDF editor is the only part that charges, and it says so before you pay.
