Choosing a size
Sizes here run from a 6″ × 4″ print you can stand on a shelf up to a 40″ × 28″ framed piece that fills a wall. The thing worth knowing before you choose: the cost barely moves across the small sizes and then climbs steeply, because the frame and the glass are most of the price on a small piece and the paper is most of it on a large one. Midway — around 11″ × 14″ to 18″ × 24″ — is where you get the most wall for the money. Portrait and landscape are separate options rather than a rotation, so pick the shape your artwork already is.
Framed or unframed
An unframed print arrives rolled and you frame it yourself, which is cheaper and lets you match a frame you already own. A framed print arrives ready to hang in a pinewood frame with shatter-proof plexiglass rather than glass, which is the right choice for anywhere a frame might get knocked — a café wall, a hallway, a rental. Framed costs more than the print plus a frame from a shop would, and what you are paying for is that it turns up assembled and undamaged.
Getting the artwork right
Upload at the largest size you have. A print is held at arm's length rather than worn, so it shows detail a t-shirt would hide — an image that looks fine on a phone can arrive soft at 18″ × 24″. The editor shows the print area at the real shape for the size you picked, and anything outside it is trimmed, so leave a little breathing room around words and faces. Photographs and painted artwork both print well; very fine pale lines on a pale background are the one thing that regularly disappoints.
Where it is printed and how long it takes
Art prints and posters are printed in Australia, and so is the smaller framed range. The large framed sizes come from a partner with print rooms in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, and your order goes to whichever is nearest — so an Australian order is an Australian parcel rather than an import. Every listing says where it is printed. Everything is made when you order it, so allow a few days for printing and framing on top of delivery; the exact window for your address is shown at checkout before you pay.
